Privacy Notice

Last updated: 1 October 2026. This mirrors cite.citely.co.uk/legal/* — the app and the marketing site run the same text, maintained in two places until a shared source is wired post-launch.

Citely Limited (“Cite”, “we”) is the controller of personal data processed through the Cite service and this marketing site. We operate in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation, the Data Protection Act 2018, the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), and the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) guidance on candidate-facing platforms.

What we collect

For candidates: name, email, work history as provided (uploaded CV text, LinkedIn imports with explicit consent), Signal Card content, issued and received Cites, consent records, device and browser metadata limited to what's needed for security.

For partners: business name, work email, role, team size, use-case description, consent records, device and browser metadata.

Lawful basis

We rely on contract performance for the delivery of the service, legitimate interests for product improvement (balanced against the rights of the individual), and consent for marketing communications and non-essential cookies. Consent is withdrawn at any time via Settings in the app or via the Cookie Policy footer link.

International transfers

Where we transfer data outside the UK, we use the International Data Transfer Addendum (IDTA) and the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs). Our primary hosting is in the EEA.

Your rights

You can access, port, correct, restrict, object to, or delete your data at any time. Candidates can export their data as a ZIP from Settings and schedule account deletion (30-day grace period). Email privacy@citely.co.uk for anything else. You also have the right to complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
