Terms of Service

Last updated: 1 October 2026. This mirrors cite.citely.co.uk/legal/* — the app and the marketing site run the same text, maintained in two places until a shared source is wired post-launch.

These Terms govern your use of the Cite service and this marketing site. By creating an account or submitting a form, you agree to be bound by them.

Who may use Cite

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a contract. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

Candidate content

Signals, Cites, and portfolios belong to the candidate who created them. Verified Cites written by professionals belong jointly to the issuing professional and the receiving candidate — either party may revoke a Cite at any time.

Partner use

Partners agree to use the service only in accordance with UK data protection law, including the ICO's guidance on candidate-facing platforms. Scraping, re-sale, or re-identification of anonymised candidate data is prohibited.

Service availability

We aim for the service to be available but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted. We will give reasonable notice of scheduled maintenance.

Liability

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be lawfully limited. Subject to that, our aggregate liability in any 12-month period is capped at the fees you paid us in that period.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
